Meet Dr Crystal Marruganti – Periodontist & Clinical Researcher
Dr Crystal Marruganti is a Periodontal specialist, clinical researcher, and educator whose work lies at the intersection of periodontal science, oral-systemic health, and advanced surgical care.
Recognised by Forbes on its 30 Under 30 list for her scientific contribution to dentistry, she represents a new generation of clinicians combining academic excellence, refined surgical expertise, and a patient-centred approach.
She obtained the Habilitation as Associate Professor in Periodontology from the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MIUR).
Dr Marruganti earned her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) from the University of Florence, followed by advanced clinical training in Periodontology and a PhD in Medical Biotechnologies at the University of Siena, in collaboration with University College London and the University of Bern.
Her doctoral research focused on inflammatory pathways, periodontal tissue breakdown, and host-response mechanisms, reinforcing her conviction that periodontal disease must be approached within a broader biological and systemic context.
Dr Marruganti has pursued extensive advanced clinical education in:
